FLISR

  • Description

The SurvalentONE Fault Location Isolation and Service Restoration (FLISR) application, or Service Reset Isolation, helps minimize downtime caused by outages that trip and lock devices on a distribution network. FLISR works in conjunction with SCADA, telecommunications, and distribution automation devices to decrease the number of customers affected by a power outage by automatically opening and closing switches, reclosers, or sectionalizers to isolate compromised line sections and energize healthy sections of the system to restore energy distribution.

The centralized FLISR system consists of a variety of remote telemetry devices, a communication network linking the devices to the control room, and a software application to monitor and control the devices. This type of system can generate great benefits for an electric utility company.

SurvalentONE FLISR includes the Loss of Voltage (LOV) application, which monitors the network for sudden voltage drops. When the LOV algorithm detects a voltage loss in the network, the application will attempt to isolate the cause of the network voltage loss and redirect power to as many affected clients as possible.

  • FLISR Benefits
    • Rapid restoration of energy service in clients.
    • Greater client satisfaction.
    • Improvement of the indicators: SAIFI, SAIDI, CMI (Minutes of Interruption of Clients) and other related performance indices.
    • Increase in revenues through more energized and active networks.
    • Field service costs
    • Compliance with regulatory standards
    • Better decision-making in the control room
    • Coordination with other distribution automation solutions
  • Characteristics
    • Perfect integration with SurvalentONE ADMS
    • Centralized FLISR solution.
    • Possibility to enable / disable the application based on the feeder or globally.
    • Semi-automatic and automatic operating modes.
    • The solution does not depend on the brand of the field equipment (eg Loop Automation).
    • Integration with standard protocols such as DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850
    • Sophisticated troubleshooting algorithm
    • Full FLISR operations log and change order created for each FLISR event
    • System test function
    • Optional integration with SurvalentONE Load Flow application and status estimation for distribution system and improve service restoration analysis

Volt / VAR Optimization

VVO / VAR Optimization is an advanced application designed to improve energy efficiency in the distribution system by reducing both energy losses and maximum demand. Also known as o Volt / VAR Control, the application coordinates the control of reactive power and voltage, to optimize user objectives subject to defined restrictions. VVO performs optimization and issues controls at both substation and feeder level.

VVO determines the optimal control actions to achieve the operational objectives specified by the operator to:
  • Minimization of losses: reduce losses in transformers in substations and in lines along feeders.
  • Energy Conservation - Reduce load by minimizing voltage across the entire network within limits.
  • Voltage reduction
Survalent VVO Provides optimized control at the system level, bypassing control through local controllers. As a network-based solution, it addresses more system conditions than a rule-based algorithm.
